Listen to 10 hot singles by Jah Cure Tracks Included: ***track / album*** |
At the age of 20, Jah Cure had already released his debut album, 'Ghetto Life', recorded what was considered Jamaica's song of the year in 97' with Sizzla called 'King of This Jungle', and toured through out Europe and the Caribbean with famous singer/producer Beres Hammond. Jah Cure's voice, message, and freedom are currently in demand through out the world. His distinct singing style starts with his voice, which registers similar to an alto saxaphone, and continues with catchy off beat melodies. In his mesage, 27-year-old Jah Cure outlines the problems Jamaica has with poor people living in the ghettos, and encourages us all to live in love. Many times you will find Jah Cure reflecting on his own life through his music as he has been locked up in prison since 1999. The demand for his freedom not only exists because of his musical contributions, but also because of the lack of proper evidence that was used to convict him for two counts of rape, illegal possession of a fire arm, and robbery with aggravation. Jah cure was given a 15-year-sentence after his accuser claimed to Jamaican police that she had been raped at gun point by him. One week after the accuser had allegidly been raped, she faced Jah Cure outside of a night club in Montego Bay along with the Jamaican police. With a mental note of Jah Cure's license plate, along with a claim that his voice sounded familiar, Jah Cure was locked up with no DNA testing at all. He is eligable for parole on July 18th, 2007. Until then, Jah Cure will continue to record and release music from Tower Street Adult Correctional, also known as the General Penitentiary. There he is provided with a digital recording studio which is made possible by a program called 'Rehabilitation Through Music'. The program was proposed by police superintendant Gladstone Wright and his colleagues, and approved by commissioner Lucias Thomas. Jah Cure has recorded and released a serries of chart toppers from prison including 'Longing For','Love Is', 'Jamaica', and 'Reflections'. He was nominated for most improved artist in 2004, and his single 'Longing For' on the Drop Leaf riddim was elected song of the year for 2004 in Jamaica. Although in jail, he has been able to record duets with artists such as Gentleman, Capleton, and Fantan Mojah. His single with Gentleman, 'Share The Love', has topped charts through out Europe and Jamaica in 2006. 'Nah Build Great Man', the duet with Fantan Mojah has also seen high places on the charts in 2006, and is featured on Fantan Mojah's debut album, 'Hail The King'. Shock Out Inc. extends a large prayer from L.A to J.A for Jah Cure and his release from prison in 2007. -Adam Arredondo
