Getty Lustre aka Sparrow was born in the Philippines
on March 7, 1979. He grew up in an environment where
music was valued, influential, and just part of the
Filipino culture. As the youngest son of three older
brothers, he grew up with a variety of music. However,
Ska and Roots Reggae was the most influential of them
all. The impact of 1960's Jamaican music was truly
inspirational for him because of the message that it
conveys. He became deeply fascinated in the arts,
culture and tradition of Jamaica. Artists such as Ken
Boothe, Alton Ellis, The Skatalites, Bob Marley,
Dennis Brown, Prince Buster, The Clarendonians, Dave
Barker, Kieth and Tex, Phyllis Dillon, U-Roy, Dennis
Alcapone, Roy Shirley, The Heptones, Jackie Mittoo,
Bob Andy, John Holt, Boris Gardner, Derrick Morgan,
Desmond Dekker, Derrick Harriott, Jimmy Cliff, Laurel
Aitken, The Maytals, The Paragons, Pat Kelly, Symarip,
and The Upsetters motivated Fadah Sparrow to become a
selectah so that the music of these brilliant artists
will continue to stimulate positive energy and vibes. |
